LABELLERS LAUNCHED

Newman Labelling Machinery Limited have introduced two new labelling machines which, according to the company, herald the arrival of ‘next generation’ computer control technology and bring fully ‘validation-friendly’ models to new market sectors; the CTE350 for carton tamper-evident, security labelling, and the 6VAL entry-level specialist pharmaceutical labeller for vials, ampoules and syringes.

The CTE350 is an upgrade, faster successor to the CTE250, launched in 1993 for the pharmaceutical, healthcare, cosmetics and food markets. Now operating up to 350 labels per minute, the CTE350 applies self-adhesive, security labels to seal simultaneously the flap closures on erected, filled cartons in a size range of 12 x 20 x 65mm to 120 x 120 x 245mm.

The machine incorporates a range of ‘validation-friendly’ benefits, including provision of a complete set of machine-specific documentation in the form of the Newman Validation Package. The In-Process Control (IPC) facility has also been added, allowing the missing label detect/reject facility to be challenged automatically on demand, without interrupting production flow.

The 6VAL’s control system brings a new, high-tech appearance to Newman pharmaceutical product labellers and provides greater control and versatility, together with extended functionality, including IPC, and improved ease of validation.

The new control protocol uses two microprocessor; one for machine control, the other – with full message display: text and graphics – for the operator interface, including a plug-in printer facility for hard copy updates of the full container package data. The ‘minimum change parts’ specification covers containers with diameters between 10-50mm and labels with heights between 12-200mm and widths of 25-160mm. Maximum output, depending on container size, is 300cpm.
